There are 13 candidates set to run in Vancouver’s upcoming byelection, which will fill two open seats on city council.
Officials shared the names of every council hopeful Friday afternoon, shortly after the nomination deadline passed, but noted the list could change until March 7, which is the deadline for candidate challenges and withdrawals.
The current list includes, in alphabetical order: Theodore Abbott, Jeanifer Decena, Guy Dubé, Colleen Hardwick, Ralph Kaisers, Charles Ling, Karin Litzcke, Lucy Maloney, Gerry McGuire, Sean Orr, Annette Reilly, Rollergirl, and Jaime Stein.
Officials said the order of the candidates’ names on the ballot will be determined by a random draw, which will be streamed live on March 7 from the council chamber.
Vancouver’s two open council seats belonged to OneCity’s Christine Boyle, who was elected to provincial office last fall, and the Green Party’s Adriane Carr, who resigned back in January.
Voters will be able to cast advance ballots on March 26 or April 1 at city hall, or on the byelection date of April 5 at various locations.
Mail-in ballots are also available by request, beginning March 3.
