Foul play not suspected after body found in New Westminster, B.C.

Major crime investigators say foul play is not suspected after a man was found dead in downtown New Westminster, B.C.

Patrol officers and forensic detectives responded to an area near Stewardson Way and Quebec Street after the man’s body was discovered at around 1:15 p.m. on April 29.

The New Westminster Police Department’s major crime unit took conduct of the case, while the B.C. Coroners Service conducted its own investigation.

The agencies have since determined the man’s death is not suspicious, the department said in a news release Thursday.

“We recognize that this man had loved ones who are grieving this loss,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver said.

“Our thoughts are with them, and we hope the findings of this investigation provide some clarity and peace in a very difficult time.”

Police did not release the man’s identity or suspected cause of death.
