Mounties say cash, a vehicle, and a large quantity of narcotics were among the items seized after a suspicious vehicle was stopped in Langley, B.C., last week.
According to a statement issued by Langley RCMP on Tuesday, officers from the branch’s Special Response Team located a vehicle that was suspicious and known to police at around 4 p.m. Thursday, in the 20200 block of 66 Avenue. The vehicle had previously been involved in crime within the Lower Mainland, the statement said.
The suspect driver returned to the car and police carried out a traffic stop, during which the driver unsuccessfully attempted to escape.
Officers arrested two men, both from Maple Ridge, and carried out a subsequent search warrant that resulted in the seizure of 700 grams of fentanyl, 300 grams of cocaine, eight kilograms of cannabis products and over 500 pills, believed to be counterfeit OxyContin.
According to the statement, $3,000 in cash and a luxury SUV, a 2022 Mercedes GLC300, were also seized. Together the confiscated items had an approximate value of $150,000.
Both men who were arrested have been released pending further investigation.
