Staff at BC Ferries are hoping a stuffed pink donkey that was left behind on a sailing will eventually be reunited with its owner. The ferry company says the plushie was found on the Salish Raven on Thursday, July 16, and staff believe it was lost on an afternoon sailing between Swartz Bay (Victoria) and the Southern Gulf Islands. In a social media post, BC Ferries asked the owner of the donkey or anyone who knows to whom it belongs to send a direct message, so the “sweet passenger” can return home. Staff say they have a few leads, but no confirmed owner yet. In the meantime, BC Ferries says the donkey—which has now been dubbed “Churro the Burro”—has been making the most of its adventure. The ferry company shared images of the animal making friends in the gift shop, enjoying the ocean view, receiving a private tour of the ship’s engine room, and even getting a chance to captain the ship.
