22-year-old woman dies in slackline accident near Squamish

A young woman died after falling from a slackline at a popular park in B.C.’s Sea to Sky region Friday, according to authorities.

Police were called to the Chek Canyon Recreation Area at around 12:30 p.m. for reports a 22-year-old woman had fallen, according to the Squamish RCMP.

“First responders attended the scene where the 22-year-old female was confirmed to be deceased,” a statement from the detachment said, adding that search and rescue crews were called in to perform the recovery of the body“due to the difficulty of accessing the area at the bottom of the canyon.”

The BC Coroners Service has been called in to investigate.
