Video shows the moment a home exploded in Langley, an incident that has been linked to the death of a person and a potential drug lab, according to Langley RCMP
Authorities have confirmed one person is dead following an explosion that shook a quiet residential neighbhourhood in Langley, B.C., last week.
Investigators also revealed Monday that the blast, which sparked a raging fire that damaged multiple homes near 196 Street and 73A Avenue on Friday, may have been caused by a drug lab.
Two people were critically injured in the incident, and authorities initially said one additional person was unaccounted for. Langley RCMP confirmed a body has since been located inside the property, where investigators have spent the past few days combing over the wreckage.
“We are working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the deceased individual,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said in a statement Monday.
The cause of the explosion and fire are still under investigation, but Sharoom said preliminary examination of the scene uncovered materials “consistent with what is found at an illegal drug extraction lab.”
“It may take time to reach a definitive conclusion, as a thorough investigation and expert analysis are required,” he added.
Langley RCMP asked anyone with information on the incident who hasn’t already spoken with authorities to contact the detachment and quote file number 2025-6044.
