Police officer taken to the hospital following a collision involving a SUV in Brampton

A police officer was taken to the hospital following a collision in Brampton early Sunday evening.

The crash happened at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Bovaird Drive West.

Peel Regional Police said they were called to that area around 6 p.m. for reports of a collision involving a police cruiser and a SUV.

Paramedics say they transported an officer to the hospital with minor injuries, confirming that a police cruiser was involved in the collision.

The police vehicle is a Dodge Charger.

No other injuries have been reported.

The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene, police said.

Currently, westbound Bovaird Drive is closed at Sunforest Drive, while southbound Hurontario Street is closed at Bovaird Drive.
