Pedestrian critically injured after being struck by driver of vehicle in Mississauga

A man is fighting for his life in the hospital after being struck by the driver of a vehicle in Mississauga late Tuesday afternoon.

The collision happened near Dixie and Rathburn roads.

Peel Regional Police said they were called to that area just before 4 p.m. for reports of an adult male pedestrian who had been hit by a tow truck.

The pedestrian, meanwhile, is in life-threatening condition. A media officer told CTV News Toronto that they are “being stabilized.”

Peel paramedics said they transported a patient in his 50s to the hospital in “critical, life-threatening condition.”

Police said both the driver and their vehicle remained on scene.

Rathburn is currently closed in both directions between Dixie and Bough Beeches Boulevard and police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
