Brampton man charged with human trafficking in Peel Region

Peel police say they've charged Javon McBean, 25, of Brampton with human trafficking and prostitution related offences.

Police in Peel Region have arrested a man they allege committed human trafficking and prostitution offences.

Peel police say in February, officers began an investigation relating to a victim involved in a sex trade in the region.

They say the accused recruited and exploited the victim into the sex trade and then took her earnings.

Police also allege the man moved the victim across the country over several years.

Javon McBean, 25, of Brampton has been arrested and charged with human trafficking, advertising sexual service, forcible confinement, assault, and killing or injuring animals among several other charges.

The charges have not been tested in court.
