A 16-year-old has died after a collision in Niagara Falls earlier this week.

Police said they were called to the area of Thorold Stone and Beechwood roads shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

A teen girl was driving westbound in a black Chevrolet Cruz on Thorold Stone Road as a 32-year-old woman in a grey Hyundai was travelling eastbound on the same road.

The teenager lost control of her vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with the Hyundai, police said. It is unclear at this time what prompted the collision.

The 32-year-old sustained minor physical injuries, police said, and the teen died at the hospital.

Police are asking anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
