Suspicious fire at midtown restaurant displaces 3 families living in building

Toronto Fire and police officials investigate a one-alarm fire that displaced three families in residential units on Eglinton.

A suspicious fire at a restaurant in midtown has displaced three families who live in units within the same building, Toronto Fire told CP24.

The fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. at a building in the area of Eglinton Avenue and Bathurst Street.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke visible from the rear of the building and located a fire in the restaurant as well as residential units within the structure.

No injuries were reported and the flames are now out, officials told CP24.

The fire, they say, is believed to be suspicious and the cause, origin, and circumstances surrounding the blaze will be investigated.
