Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say two Toronto residents are facing a combined 43 firearm and drug-related charges following a bust in Sudbury that led to the alleged seizure of $200,000 worth of narcotics.
In a news release issued Thursday, police said its Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) began investigating drug trafficking activity “spanning various communities,” including Sudbury, Parry Sound, and Manitoulin Island, in October 2024.
On Jan. 8, the OPP said, OCEB members and Sudbury police officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle carrying two occupants believed to be connected to the investigation.
Investigators then executed two search warrants at a residence and storage locker in Toronto, which they say yielded five firearms with magazines and ammunition, 850 grams of suspected crystal meth, 750 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 73 grams of suspected cocaine.
Police estimate that the street value of the drugs allegedly seized tops $200,000.
Roughly $100,000 in Canadian currency, one body armour vest, and packaging materials were also seized, police said.
Two suspects, identified by police as Toronto residents Anthony Eric Daley-Williams, 33, and Joan Claire Guce, 33, were arrested and charged in connection with the investigation.
The pair is facing a total of 43 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, possession of a firearm with altered serial number, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, as well as several other offences.
Daley-Williams was remanded into custody and will appear in a Sudbury courtroom on Feb. 13. Guce was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb.19.
