Police searching for vehicle after pedestrian hit and killed near MacDowall, Sask.

Prince Albert RCMP are looking for a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian early Tuesday morning on Highway 11 near MacDowall, Sask.

According to an RCMP news release, officers with the Prince Albert detachment received a report of a deceased person on Highway 11 just south of the turn-off to MacDowall around 2:15 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene they found the body of a man. RCMP said he has not been formally identified and no other details on the man’s identity will be provided at this time.

“Preliminary investigation determined the male had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. It’s believed the incident occurred in the southbound lanes,” the release said.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a black Jeep, that likely has damage to its front end.

RCMP are asking anyone who captured surveillance or dashcam footage in the area between midnight and 2:15 a.m. to report it to police. Investigators would also like to speak with anyone who was travelling in the area or who may know where the black damaged Jeep is located.

The southbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed near the scene of the collision but have since been reopened.

Information can be submitted to RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
