The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) Huskies women’s basketball team will bring their 18-2 record into home court for a quarterfinal playoff matchup.
The Huskies finished the regular season with 18 straight wins after dropping their first two games against Calgary.
The green and white will be led by Gage Grassick, who set a Huskies record for assists in a single season with 120, beating the previous record by former Huskie Jill Humbert, who notched 113 assists during the 2010-2011 season.
Saskatchewan closed out the season with a 100-45 victory over the Brandon Bobcats, which saw five different players finish with a double-digit performance. Logan Reider topped the score sheet with 20 points, while Olivia Harm had 19.
The Huskies women’s team is ranked third in the country, and has secured the number one seed in the playoff conference.
Saskatchewan is hoping to take care of business this season, after winning the conference last year, and making it to the U-sports final before losing to the Carlton Ravens in last year’s national title game.
The U of S Huskies take to home court on Saturday to face the winner of the play-in game between the ninth seed Mount Royal Cougars and the eighth seed Trinity Western Spartans.
