Police have laid charges against three people in connection with two separate break-ins at post offices in two Northern Saskatchewan villages.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on Feb. 18, Nipawin RCMP received a report of a break-in at the post office in Codette – a village within the Rural Municipality of Nipawin, about 150 kilometres east of Prince Albert. Police say unknown individual(s) broke into the post office at around 5 a.m., damaging a door and stealing over 20 packages.
Later that morning, officers received another report of a break-in at the post office, about 31 kilometres north of Codette, in the village of Love.
Police say the incident occurred overnight between 5 p.m. Feb. 17 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 18. Police say unknown individual(s) stole an unknown number of packages, mail and a safe.
Following a thorough investigation, police arrested a woman and a man in Cumberland House on Feb. 23 and March 9, respectively.
Ashley Dayton, 31, of Nipawin, William Fosseneuve, 36, of Cumberland House, and Reginald Nawakayas, 24, of Nipawin, are each charged with multiple counts, including break and enter, theft, and mischief.
Police say Ashley Dayton and William Fosseneuve appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on March 12 and 13, respectively. A warrant has been issued for Reginald Nawakayas’s arrest, who is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
Nipawin RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Reginald Nawakayas, who is described as approximately five-foot, 11 inches tall and 250 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
RCMP say if you see Reginald Nawakayas, do not approach him and call the police instead.
