Three people are facing multiple charges following an investigation into fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine trafficking in Saskatoon.

The Saskatoon police drug unit executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Embassy Drive on March 6 and seized 27.7g of fentanyl, 28 pregabalin pills, 70.13g of methamphetamine, 19.07g of cocaine, two dilaudid pills and ammunition.

As a result, Damion Binning, 33, Jamie McKay, 39, and a youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with various drug trafficking offenses, according to the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS).

Saskatoon has been grappling with rising overdose cases in the past month. On Wednesday, Saskatoon Mayor Cynthia Block said a dangerously lethal batch of drugs has made its way onto Saskatoon streets which puts lives at risk across the city.

According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Heath, there has been over 300 overdose cases and multiple suspicious deaths in Saskatoon since Feb. 15.

SPS reminds the public that any drug not prescribed by a doctor and dispensed by a pharmacist can result in serious injury or death.

Police encourage people to seek emergency help if they suspect someone has experienced an overdose.
