Sask. man suspected in vehicle theft and stabbing arrested

Saskatoon police say they have arrested a man who was the suspect of a robbery earlier this month.

In a news release sent Friday, the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said the 29-year-old man was also wanted for stabbing a 43-year-old man and stealing his truck on Dec. 2, 2024.

Police say around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 5. they were called to a parking lot in the 400 block of 22nd Street West for a report of an in-progress break and enter to a vehicle.

Arriving officers observed a man matching the suspect’s description walking in the area. Later, the investigation determined that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Dec. 2 stabbing and robbery incidents.

On Dec. 2, police were called to a convenience store in the 500 block of 22nd Street East where they found a 43-year-old man suffering from a stab wound.

“Further investigation determined the victim, and another male were driving away from the location when the victim suddenly stopped the Ford F 150, exited the vehicle, and sought assistance for his injury,” SPS said.

Police say the suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle. The truck was later located in the 700 block of Idylwyld Drive North.

After nearly a month of investigation, the 29-year-old man was arrested on his outstanding warrant and further charged with robbery in relation to the vehicle theft and mischief in relation to the break and enter to a vehicle.
