A 32-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a suspicious death on Pelican Lake First Nation.

Officers from Spiritwood RCMP were called to the scene for a report of an injured individual on a pathway at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Saskatchewan RCMP said.

Arriving officers found the man who was later pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. RCMP identified him as 29-year-old Kirk Thomas from Pelican Lake First Nation.

RCMP say the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death were deemed suspicious and the major crimes unit began the investigation.

As a result, 32-year-old Craig Thomas, also from Pelican Lake First Nation, was arrested later that day at a residence on the First Nation.

He has been charged with one count of manslaughter.

Craig is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday.
