Two young men linked to last week’s drive-by shooting in Sooke have been charged following an hours-long standoff and arrest Sunday night.

Josh Lafleur, 25, and Damien Medwedrich, 21, have each been charged with two counts of attempted murder, Sooke RCMP announced Tuesday.

Dustin Brown, who was arrested last week in connection with the June 14 shooting, also faces two counts of attempted murder.

Lafleur and Medwedrich were taken into custody Sunday at a home on Kirby Road near the Sooke Potholes, following a nearly 11-hour standoff involving multiple police units and an emergency response team.

The suspects were found in a crawl space with the help of a police dog unit.

Both are set to appear in Western Communities Provincial Court on June 23, while Brown will make a court appearance July 5.

Two men from Sooke were rushed to hospital in critical condition last Wednesday after they were found on the side of Ella Road suffering from gunshot wounds.

The shooting sparked a five-day manhunt for the three suspects that involved police resources from all over Vancouver Island.
