This Sask. community was the coldest spot in Canada Tuesday morning

With an extreme cold warning still in effect Tuesday morning for all of Saskatchewan it’s no surprise that the coldest spot in the country was in the province.

Last Mountain, Sask. was the coldest spot in Canada at 8:30 a.m. with temperatures plunging to minus 44, according to Environment Canada.

Wind chills in several communities hit minus 50, including in Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.

On its website Environment Canada warned that frostbite was possible in just a few minutes on exposed skin in the extreme cold.

Temperatures are expected to moderate later this week, with both Regina and Saskatoon expecting highs above zero early next week, according to Environment Canada’s Tuesday morning forecast.

Temperature records fall across Sask.

On Monday many communities saw cold temperature records fall in the province, including Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon.

According to Environment Canada records were broken in the following places:
