RCMP seize stolen items, charge 2 people from Edmonton after traffic stop

Two people from Edmonton have been charged after stolen goods were found during a traffic stop near Griffin, Sask.

Weyburn RCMP say officers were on patrol on Aug. 22 when they spotted an SUV speeding on Highway 13. After stopping the vehicle, police arrested an adult man.

A search of the SUV showed an assortment of stolen property, including soldering irons, veterinary medicine, calculators, sports cards, toys and pocketknives.

Investigators determined the items had been stolen from multiple businesses across Western Canada. Police say the goods have since been returned to their owners.

Shawn Leblanc, 45, of Edmonton, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and theft over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in Weyburn Provincial Court on Nov. 25.

Mary Leblanc, 47, of Edmonton, is charged with the same offences. A warrant has been issued for her arrest, and police are asking the public to report any information about her whereabouts.

RCMP said they are currently working on obtaining a current photo and description of her.
