Here are the Sask. candidates running in April’s federal election

With Canada’s federal election set for April 28, people in Saskatchewan may be wondering who is running in their riding.

This election, there are 61 candidates running across 14 ridings in the province.

Out of 14 ridings, 12 have incumbent Conservatives running again for their seats.

Those include Rosemarie Falk in Battlefords-Lloydminster-Meadow Lake, Kelly Block in Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek, Fraser Tolmie in Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan, Randy Hoback in Prince Albert, Warren Steinley in Regina-Lewvan, Andrew Scheer in Regina-Qu’Appelle, Michael Kram in Regina-Wascana, Kevin Waugh in Saskatoon South, Corey Tochor in Saskatoon-University, Brad Redekopp in Saskatoon West, Jeremy Patzer in Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley, and Cathay Wagantall in Yorkton-Melville.

The ridings of Souris-Moose Mountain and Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River do not have incumbents running.

Battlefords–Lloydminster–Meadow Lake

Covering parts of central-western Saskatchewan, this federal electoral district includes the cities of North Battleford, Lloydminster, and Meadow Lake, as well as the town of Battleford and Unity. The riding’s boundaries stretch from the provincial border in the west to the North Saskatchewan River in the south and the rural municipalities of Meadow Lake and Spiritwood in the north.

The conservative incumbent, Rosemarie Falk, is seeking re-election in this riding.

Carlton Trail–Eagle Creek

Representing a large area of central Saskatchewan, Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek includes parts of several rural municipalities and First Nations lands. The riding stretches from the North Saskatchewan River in the south to the rural municipalities of Meeting Lake and Leask in the north, and from the city of Saskatoon’s western edge to the eastern boundaries of the rural municipalities of Humboldt and Flett’s Springs.

Incumbent Conservative MP Kelly Block is seeking re-election in this riding.

Desnethé–Missinippi–Churchill River

This riding covers a vast area of northern Saskatchewan, making it the third-largest federal riding in a province, after Churchill—Keewatinook Aski in Manitoba and Abitibi—Baie-James—Nunavik—Eeyou in Quebec.

Prince Albert

Located in central Saskatchewan, Prince Albert riding represents the city of Prince Albert and smaller centers like Nipawin, Melfort, and Tisdale. The riding’s boundaries stretch across various rural municipalities and First Nations communities.

Incumbent Randy Hoback is seeking re-election as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Saskatoon South

Saskatoon South riding covers a portion of the City of Saskatoon, specifically the area south of the South Saskatchewan River and parts of the city’s south and east sides.

The incumbent Conservative, Kevin Waugh, is seeking re-election.

Saskatoon–University

This riding represents a significant portion of Saskatoon, including the University of Saskatchewan campus, parts of the city’s north and central areas, and neighbourhoods along the South Saskatchewan River.

The incumbent MP Corey Tochor, representing the Conservative Party of Canada, is seeking re-election for this riding.

Saskatoon West

The Saskatoon West riding represents the western part of Saskatoon, including western neighbourhoods and areas along the South Saskatchewan River.

Incumbent Conservative Brad Redekopp is seeking re-election.

Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan

Representing a large area of southern Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan riding covers areas around Moose Jaw, Lake Diefenbaker, Lanigan, and parts of several rural municipalities.

The riding stretches from the southern parts of the province, north of Regina, to areas northwest of the city.

Incumbent Fraser Tolmie is seeking re-election in this riding, representing the Conservative Party.

Regina–Lewvan

Covering a portion of the City of Regina, Regina-Lewvan includes areas north and south of the Trans-Canada Highway.

Incumbent Conservative Warren Steinley is seeking re-election.

Regina–Qu’Appelle

Located in southern Saskatchewan, Regina Qu’Appelle covers parts of the City of Regina, rural municipalities surrounding the city, and several First Nations communities and villages.

Incumbent Andrew Scheer, representing the Conservative Party, is seeking re-election in this riding.

Regina–Wascana

Situated in the City of Regina, Regina-Wascana covers a portion of the city’s south side and areas east of downtown.

Incumbent Conservative Michael Kram is seeking re-election.

Souris–Moose Mountain

Covering most of Saskatchewan’s southeast corner, Souris-Moose Mountain includes the communities of Estevan, Weyburn, Assiniboia, and Moosomin, among others.

The Conservative incumbent, Dr. Robert Kitchen, announced he would not be seeking reelection last year.

Swift Current–Grasslands–Kindersley

Situated in Saskatchewan’s southwest corner, the riding includes the communities of Swift Current, Maple Creek, Rosetown, and Kindersley among others. Conservative incumbent Jeremy Patzer is seeking re-election.

Yorkton–Melville

Representing a large swath of eastern Saskatchewan, the riding spans as far north as Tobin Lake and as far south as Esterhazy. As its name suggests, the communities of Yorkton and Melville lie within its borders, in addition to Langenburg, Wadena, Kelvington, Canora, Kamsack and others. Longtime MP Cathay Wagantall is seeking re-election.
