Four charged in Regina after anti-shoplifting operation

Regina Police arrest four after targeting two north end stores in a one-day retail theft operation.

Four people are facing charges after a targeted one-day retail theft enforcement project by the Regina Police Service (RPS).

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit and Patrol Unit conducted a coordinated operation at two businesses frequently targeted for theft and robbery on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

One of the businesses was located in the 3900 block of Rochdale Boulevard while the other was on 1000 block of North Pasqua Street.

According to police, officers witnessed suspects leaving the stores without paying for merchandise and made arrests outside the businesses. Among the items allegedly stolen were electronics, office supplies, spray paint, a watch and other merchandise.

A fifth individual was also taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

Police say the public can expect to see more targeted enforcement initiatives as RPS renews its focus on retail crime through its “Retail Theft Strategy.”
