CTV News declares Liberal minority, here are the results from across Saskatchewan

WATCH: While the race for two Regina seats were close in the federal election, a sea of blue ended up sweeping southern Saskatchewan.

The Liberal Party will be returning to Parliament Hill with a minority government following Canada’s 45th federal election.

CTV News declared a Liberal win less than an hour after polls closed across most of the country.

Going into election night, the Conservatives held all 14 seats in Saskatchewan. However, as results poured in, it was made clear that Conservative dominance in northern Saskatchewan had come to an end.

Buckley Belanger, a former MLA who served as both a Liberal and a New Democrat from the mid 1990’s to 2021, secured the Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River seat with a decisive win.

The seat was redrawn to exclude the conservative stronghold of Meadow Lake – and now mainly includes Indigenous communities in the province’s north.
