Calgary man arrested after Sask. RCMP seize 1kg of cocaine near Regina

WATCH: A 41-year-old man in Calgary has been charged with cocaine trafficking after a traffic stop on Highway 1 west of Regina.

A Calgary, Alta. man is facing multiple charges after the Saskatchewan RCMP seized one kilogram of cocaine during a traffic stop west of Regina along Highway 1.

According to an RCMP news release, the traffic stop was conducted around 11:30 a.m. on March 18.

“During subsequent investigation with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP police service dog, officers located and seized approximately one kilogram of cocaine inside the vehicle,” the release said.

The man, who police arrested at the scene, told RCMP he was travelling from Alberta to Manitoba.

RCMP said the 41-year-old man has been charged with one count each of trafficking cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on May 29, according to RCMP.
