Province to announce partnership with Airbnb on affordable housing
Advocates for the hotel industry want municipalities to reign in the popular home-sharing platform, Airbnb
A plan to fund affordable housing in this province is set to be announced later this morning.
The Ministry of Finance says it is working with short-term home rental company Airbnb to unveil the new agreement.
Details are due to be announced at 11:30 in Victoria.
Many cities in B.C. have regulated Airbnb-style rentals, arguing the service cuts into the number of properties available to workers requiring long-term accommodation.
