Mounties on the West Shore say they made a disturbing discovery when pulling over an accused drunk driver seen crashing into parked cars in Langford on the weekend.

The officers responding to the call found two women were in the car – as well as a small baby.

RCMP pulled over the vehicle after witnesses reported seeing it swerving and slamming into cars on Sooke Road Sunday at around 10 p.m.

A breathalyzer revealed that the driver of the vehicle was above the legal limit, according to police. She was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the car was impounded for 30 days.

RCMP said they notified the Ministry of Children and Families due to a baby being involved.

No one was injured in the incident.

West Shore RCMP say police forces across the Capital Regional District are stepping up roadblocks and sobriety checks as part of a holiday drinking and driving blitz.
