Ontario Provincial Police say they have confirmed the identity of a man who was killed on Highway 401 in Kingston earlier this month.

The man was struck by a vehicle while walking on the 401 between Highway 15 and Montreal Street at around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 16.

OPP said Tuesday their efforts to identify him had been unsuccessful.

On Wednesday, following the release of a forensic artist’s sketch of the man, police said the public came forward with information that allowed investigators to identify him as a 67-year-old resident of Kingston.

Police did not release his name Wednesday, but said his family had been notified of his death.

The sketch has been removed from this article at the OPP’s request.
