A driver stopped for careless driving on Highway 401 in Leeds County during snowy conditions this weekend said they had “no idea” how fast they were going, police said.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer stopped a vehicle going 131 km/h Sunday morning.
“It was going 131 km/h and passing vehicles on the snow-covered, slippery roadway,” the OPP said.
“When stopped, the driver indicated they had ‘no idea’ how fast they were going. This stop resulted in a careless driving charge.”
Police remind motorists to slow down and adjust their driving to the conditions this winter.
