Suspended driver caught speeding in Hwy. 417 HOV lane: OPP

A G2 driver is facing more than $2,000 in fines after being observed speeding and driving alone in a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s west end.

Ontario Provincial Police say the driver was observed going 138 km/h on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive during the morning rush hour.

“If you are already a suspended driver, it’s likely not a great idea to draw attention to yourself speeding and driving alone in the HOV lane,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi said on X.

“The vehicle, which belonged to the driver’s father, was impounded for seven days as well.”

The driver is facing a minimum $2,000 fine for driving while under suspension, as well as nearly $400 in fines for other violations, including driving alone in the HOV lane.
