Several drivers stopped for speeding on Ottawa roads over March Break, including a driver ticketed twice in 10 hours

An Uber driver with a passenger onboard and a 22-year-old stopped for stunt driving for a third time were among the speeders nabbed by police on Ottawa roads during the March Break.

The Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit stopped several drivers for speeding last week.

Last Thursday, police stopped three drivers for stunt driving on Ottawa roads.

Police say an Uber driver was observed going 65 km/h over the speed limit on Conroy Road. The speed limit is 70 km/h.

A 22-year-old driver was stopped after an officer spotted them going 135 km/h on Highway 174, according to police. The speed limit is 80 km/h in that section of the highway.

“Racking up his third stunt driving charge (one of the previous two was issued by the same officer,” police said on X, adding the driver has been charged for stunt driving three times over five years.

Police say a third driver was observed going 152 km/h on Highway 174 near Tenth Line Road.

The driver had been stopped for speeding on Bronson Avenue just 10 hours earlier, according to police.

The charge of stunt driving includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.

Last Friday, police said an officer stopped an “out-of-country” licenced driver going 151 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 174. A G2 driver was also observed going 144 km/h on Highway 174 in the same area, according to police.

Three drivers were charged with stunt driving on Ottawa roads last Wednesday.

Police say a G2 driver using his girlfriend’s car was stopped going 116 k/h in a 60 km/h zone on Woodroffe Avenue.
