Portland, Ont. man charged following ‘heated disturbance’, threats to medical staff

Ontario Provincial Police say a man from Portland, Ont., about 55 kilometres west of Brockville, is facing several charges following a “heated disturbance” and alleged threats made to staff at a local hospital.

According to police, the incident began just after 8 p.m. May 31. An officer used a Taser to subdue the man and arrest him. He was then transported to hospital.

Police allege the man threatened hospital staff.

The 45-year-old is charged with assault, mischief, and uttering threats.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville June 27.
