Police investigating after body found in Ottawa River

The Ottawa Police Service is investigating after a deceased person was found in the Ottawa River Saturday.

Police said they found the body in the water near Bate Island after officers responded to a 911 call.

“At this time, there is no indication of foul play,” police said in a post on social media.

A heavy police presence was seen on the Champlain Bridge and Island Park Drive for several hours Saturday afternoon.

Police did not confirm the identity of the individual.

An investigation is ongoing.
