Poker players split historic $2.5 million ‘Bad Beat Jackpot’ at Gatineau, Que. casino

Forty-six players walked away from the poker tables with money at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que., splitting a historic $2.5 million “Bad Beat Jackpot.”

Loto-Québec says to win the “Bad Beat Jackpot,” a player must lose a poker hand with four 10s or a higher hand.

Last Wednesday, a player lost a hand with four 10s while playing in the Poker Room at the Casino du Lac-Leamy.

The holder of the “bad beat hand” won $1.005 million from the “Bad Beat Jackpot,” while the winner, who had a straight flush, received $502,711, according to Loto-Québec.

The agency says the other six players at the table won nearly $84,000, while the other 38 players in the lounge each won just over $13,000.

“The atmosphere in the Poker Room was electric with the hockey game playing on the screens,”  Loto-Québec said, noting the Montreal Canadiens fans were not the only ones celebrating after the club clinched a playoff spot.

“The players will remember this evening for a long time!”

This was the largest “Bad Beat Jackpot” awarded at a Loto-Québec casino.
