Ontario Provincial Police say two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing in Deep River, Ont. that left one person with life-threatening injuries last week, including one individual charged with attempted murder. On Sept. 9, police responded to reports of a “serious assault” in the area of McElligott Drive at approximately 4:30 p.m. One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and a shelter-in-place was in effect through the night and into the next day as police investigated the incident. According to a news release from police, Haedyn Fry, a 26-year-old from Deep River, has been charged with attempted murder and failure to comply with probation. Police say Sharon Druery, a 69-year-old from Deep River, has been charged with obstruction of a police officer. Fry remains in custody and will appear before court on Friday, while Druery was released and will appear in court in October. Police say the investigation is ongoing and residents may continue to see an increased police presence in the area. Residents and businesses in the areas of Glendale Avenue, McElligott Drive and the surrounding neighbourhood area asked to review security, doorbell or dash camera footage captured on the day of the incident.
