OPP traffic blitz on Hwy. 17 leads to 64 charges

Ontario Provincial Police say a traffic blitz in the Ottawa Valley led to dozens of charges against drivers for speeding, stunt driving, and more.

The Renfrew, Ottawa, and Upper Ottawa Valley detachments conducted a traffic initiative late last week on Highway 17, laying 64 charges.

Fifty-eight charges were for speeding, OPP said. One driver was charged with stunt driving, and OPP

OPP also laid individual charges for having no insurance, driving without a valid permit, failing to surrender an insurance card, and two charges of failing to move for an emergency vehicle.

According to a post on X, one driver was clocked going 159 km/h.

Nineteen warnings were also issued during the blitz.
