OPP investigating suspicious house fire in Elgin, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fire at an uninhabited home southwest of Smiths Falls Saturday afternoon.

The fire began in a single-family home at around noon in the Village of Elgin. No injuries were reported.

Police say to expect a heavy presence to remain in the area. The fire is being considered suspicious.

The OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal are assisting in the investigation.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area.

No arrests or charges have been announced.
