Ontario Provincial Police say a school bus driver in Tweed, Ont., is facing impaired driving-related charges. Police were called about a school bus being driven erratically on Highway 37, north of Belleville, Ont., at around 10 a.m. on Thursday. Officers stopped the bus and arrested the driver, who was brought to an OPP detachment for testing. No children were on board the bus at the time of the driver’s arrest. OPP say William Rogers, 50, of Tweed, Ont., is charged with impaired driving, having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg, dangerous driving, and common nuisance endangering life. He is due in court in Belleville on Nov. 30. “Police would like to thank the member of the public who reported the driving behaviour. Prompt reporting of suspected impaired drivers can help prevent serious injuries and save lives,” the OPP said in a news release. “Impaired driving remains a serious threat to public safety and is entirely preventable. The Central Hastings OPP reminds drivers to make responsible choices before consuming alcohol or drugs and operating a vehicle.”
