Man hospitalized after being shot in Vanier

The Ottawa Paramedic Service says a man is in hospital after being shot Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics responded to an area of Richelieu Avenue near Lacasse Avenue on reports of a shooting at 3:20 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to paramedics.

Ottawa police say a significant police operation is underway in the area of Lacasse Avenue and Blake Boulevard.

The public has been asked to avoid Lacasse Avenue between Montreal Road and McArthur Avenue.
