Kingston police say a 39-year-old is facing several charges after a report of a vehicle theft over the weekend.

Police say officers were called to the area of Stephen and Patrick streets at around 8:45 a.m. Saturday on reports a vehicle had been stolen. A vehicle matching its description was spotted on nearby Division Street and the driver was pulled over and arrested approximately six minutes later, a news release said.

Police allege the driver threatened officers during the arrest. The driver was also allegedly suspended from driving three times in Ontario and criminally disqualified from driving in Canada. On top of that, police said the driver is wanted on an unrelated warrant in Quebec.

The accused, whom police did not identify, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, operation while prohibited, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and two counts of breach of probation.
