The body found inside a home following a fire in Bancroft, Ont. last week has been identified as the owner of the home, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Emergency crews responded to a fire at a home on Meadow Court in Bancroft shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
“The house was fully engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived on scene,” the OPP said.
The owner of the home was unaccounted for after the fire. Police said on Tuesday that the human remains located following the fire have been identified as the resident of the home.
Police say the Bancroft OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Unit, the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Bancroft Fire Department are investigating the fire.
