A G2 driver could be facing thousands of dollars in fines after being stopped for speeding on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer observed a driver going 158 km/h on Highway 417 this week. The speed limit is 100 km/h.
“The vehicle was also not insured, and the plates were not authorized for use on that vehicle,” the OPP said on X.
Police say the driver is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 30-day roadside driving suspension, and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days. The minimum fine upon conviction is $2,000.
“They also received numerous Novice Driver violations and were charged for operating a vehicle without insurance,” the OPP said, noting the driver faces a minimum $5,000 fine for having no insurance.
