Ontario Provincial Police say a stolen vehicle struck an OPP cruiser on Highway 401 east of Cornwall Tuesday morning.
“A stolen vehicle struck a police cruiser, entered the ditch and rolled over,” according to police.

CTV News Ottawa video from the scene showed a badly damaged OPP cruiser along the side of the highway, and a pickup truck in the ditch about 100 metres ahead along the highway.
The lone occupant of the stolen vehicle was transported to hospital with serious injuries, according to the OPP. There is no word on whether an officer in the cruiser was injured.
The Special Investigations Unit said it had invoked its mandate, but later told CTV News Ottawa it was no longer investigating because the injuries were not serious.
“Investigators have confirmation that no serious injuries were suffered. As such, this is no longer an SIU case,” a spokesperson said.
No other information has been released.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed between Summertown Road/County Road 27 and County Road 2 for about 10 hours after the crash.
The highway reopened at approximately 8:25 p.m.
