Collision between OC Transpo bus and car injures two in Ottawa’s west end

A man is in critical condition and a woman was seriously injured following a crash between a car and an OC Transpo bus. CTV's Kimberley Fowler reports.

A collision between an OC Transpo bus and a car seriously injured two people Friday morning in Ottawa’s west end, according to the Ottawa Paramedic Service.

Paramedics told CTV News Ottawa the driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s according to police, was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Paramedics add a passenger on the bus was seriously injured. She was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. Police said she is in her 70s.

The operator of the bus was also assessed at the scene. They were not taken to hospital, OC Transpo said in a statement.

Paramedics say they received a call at 11:40 a.m., reporting a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Knoxdale Road.

Ottawa police are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage of this incident and who has not yet spoken to police.

OC Transpo detoured bus service to avoid the impacted area Friday afternoon.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by this collision. We thank our emergency services partners for their response to this incident, and we will continue to cooperate with Ottawa police in their investigation,” reads OC Transpo’s statement.
