Published:

It may not be technically spring yet, but it was a warm Saturday across eastern Ontario on Saturday. CTV’s Jack Richardson reports from Brockville.

It may still technically be winter, but Saturday’s temperatures in Brockville, Ont. suggests spring is right around the corner.

According to Environment Canada, it reached a high of 17 C in the City of 1000 Islands.

Carmen Robinson’s son Théo couldn’t wait to break out his tricycle this morning.

“He’s just super thrilled to be outside. He’s been talking about getting on his bike for quite some time now, so it’s the perfect time to do it,” she said.

The Robinson’s had just finished walking along the shore of the St. Lawrence River at Blockhouse Island, a popular spot in Brockville once the weather is warmer.

“We were in town for some other things and it’s one of the nicer places to go have lunch and eat out,” said Chris Drost as he enjoyed lunch with his son Callum.

Most restaurants in Brockville say they need a longer stretch of warm weather to open their patios, as some are still waiting for more snow to melt.

An early start to spring for Todd and Jessie Burrows and their dog Jack called for a drive down County Road 29 from Smiths Falls.

“We came just to walk the park,” said Todd. “Jack likes to get out, he can finally do his zoomies again.”

While Sunday’s forecast calls for more mild temperatures, it’s also calling for about 10 to 15 mm of rain, before cooling off again on Monday.
