Two drivers will spend the final weekend of March without their vehicles after being stopped for stunt driving in Ottawa’s west end.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer observed drivers going 153 km/h and 160 km/h on Highway 417 near Galetta Side Road on Thursday. The speed limit is 110 km/h on Highway 417 west of Ottawa.
Const. Michael Fathi says although the speed limit is 110 km/h on the highway west of Ottawa, 150 km/h is still the legislated speed for stunt driving.
The charge of stunt driving includes a 30-day driving suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. The drivers face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
