19-year-old in ‘mom’s car’ charged after driving while suspended on Hwy. 401

A teenager will have some explaining to do after his mom’s car was impounded following a traffic stop Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police say the 19-year-old with a G2 licence from Pickering was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Quinte West.

“The officer discovered that the individual’s licence had been suspended for accumulated driving offence points,” OPP said in a social media post.

The driver was charged with driving while suspended, speeding and for failing to surrender his vehicle permit.

The car will be impounded for seven days, police say.
