Ottawa paramedics transported a person to hospital following an apartment fire in Orléans early Saturday morning.
The Ottawa Fire Services say in a news release that crews responded to the 200 block of Titanium Private at approximately 4:15 a.m. after multiple 911 callers reported smoke and flames from a second-storey unit.
Crews on scene found “heavy fire and smoke” coming from the unit, prompting a need for additional resources to the scene.
Firefighters initiated a “fast attack” on the flames and advanced a hose line inside the structure. Ottawa fire says the flames were extinguished and contained to the area of origin before they could spread, protecting nearby structures that were at risk of catching fire.
Ottawa paramedics responded and assessed one person at the scene. The person was transported to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries, a spokesperson told CTV News.
Victim Services were dispatched to assist residents who will be displaced from the fire.
The fire was declared under control at 4:56 a.m.
An Ottawa Fire Services investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
