One person was taken to hospital following a fire Wednesday afternoon, Ottawa paramedics say.
The fire broke out at around 4:40 p.m. in an apartment building on Meadowlands Drive East near Fisher Avenue. The building superintendent flagged firefighters down when they arrived to direct them to the source of the blaze.
Residents who were waiting outside were kept warm in an OC Transpo bus that was sent to the scene before being given the okay to head back inside.
Ottawa paramedics told CTV News Ottawa that one person presented themselves to the paramedics at the scene and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The fire was under control at 5:05 p.m. and it was contained to where it originated before it could spread.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
