Kashechewan First Nation evacuees cleared to return home
After months, evacuees from Kashechewan First Nation have been given the green light to return home. Executive director Tyson Wesley confirmed water tests are now free of cryptosporidium and other contaminants. Returns will begin Friday and are expected to be complete by Aug. 4, exactly seven months after the state of emergency was declared. Wesley said the water treatment system was upgraded over the summer, though UV system pumps were damaged during repairs and are expected to be fixed this weekend.
